Go to TattieBogle, and download the driver for OS X there. Sadly, the wireless controllers communicate with the XBox 360 using a propreitary RF protocol, and not Bluetooth, so the Bluetooth module built into your Mac won't help you out. If you don’t have Xbox wired controller, you can buy one to the nearest shop for around 40 to 50 $. Along with that, you will also require third-party drivers and configuration.

Luckily, there are some third-party (unofficial) drivers that you can use to make your Xbox One gamepad work with your Mac. Description of issue: I can’t get my Xbox Series X controller (model 1914) to work with my shadow via the Mac client (macOS Mojave 10.14.6). The xbox one, in fact, already runs windows 10. You can follow the question or vote as helpful, but you cannot reply to this thread. The Xbox Accessories app won’t detect your controller if you’re using Bluetooth to connect to your PC.
